High contrast images have always sparked a huge interest in me. They carry a lot of drama and striking quality to them with the stark whites bouncing off the deep blacks. This image sparked with me for all those reasons and I knew exactly what I would name it from the way the flower is bowing giving the work a unique living quality which I loved.

After I had drawn the lion in the Big 5 project I knew I wanted to draw another one as soon as I completed the project but in a different way. So while I was drawing the animals after the lion I was brainstorming how I could do this lion differently. When this idea came to mind I just knew I had to do it and couldn't wait to start. The day I finished the Big 5 project I started this piece and it could not have come out better.

STRETCH

High contrast figurative pieces are one of my absolute favorite things to draw. There is so much mystery in these pieces with the potential for a wide range of interpretations and meanings. I love exploring the human form through these drawings. Our bodies are so intricate and unique in so many ways and just the position of our bodies can send out huge amounts of emotion and meaning.
